Twigs? A few of those in a vase with some holly would look festive! And I'm sure you can find pine cones in the park if you've got time to go. You could probably buy some potpourri pretty cheaply and spray some of that too!
  • in 1 of my kids craft books there is a table decoration to make and spray silver/gold.

make a base from playdough/saltdough, b4 this sets add a candle to the middle and push twigs/holly/berrys/conkers/pine cones/winter nuts and shells etc into the dough. remove the candle b4 painting as the paint is usually flammable. spray paint it all, replace the candle and allow the dough to set/dry.

you will see the shapes of everything come through but they wont look brown.

do you have a park nearby where you could get pine cones etc? if not, i do and i can post some to you if you like. PM if you want some.

    I'll second the twigs idea.

A friend of mine used to spend the weekend before Christmas trying to find just the right branch in the woods with her kids, they'd bring it home - spray it gold or silver, sprinkle some glitter on and then hang choccies from it - always looked so pretty.
