leicester

Would like to go to Leicester soon on a Saturday for shopping would it be better to use the Park and Ride or brave the traffic and try and park nearer.
I live in Peterborough so it isnt very far to go for "decent shops".

Avoid parking in the town centre! It can cost a fortune, up to 40p per 15 minutes!

I always park in St. Margrets Pastures. It's close to Abbey Park, on the A6 out of town. It's a ten minute walk from the main shops and the Shires, and costs £2.80 for 6 hours.

Many more details and map here: http://www.leicester.gov.uk/index.asp?pgid=7872

    Hi,

There are a couple of cheap all day parking spots dead in the middle of the city centre (nothing posh) and it's £3.50 and £4.00 all day

They are behind Argos and Icelands and right next to The Shires shopping centre.

This map shows Argos and you need to get to Mansfield Street IIRC.

Edit: :o I'm bad at maps and I think its actually Mansfield Street! (one way street)

I park just behind the station for free. I don't mind a little walk into the centre.
  • This is useful I visited last year & will go again soon

the park and rides are brilliant, only cost me a £1 to shop for a few hours, and bus took us into city centre. much better than the £3.80 i spent parking a few weeks ago for less than 2hrs

Would like to go to Leicester? :rotfl:

    Decent shops? :rotfl:

I lived there for 21 years. Only one place beats it for blandness and that's Coventry.

    Thanks for the entertainment ;)

    What he\she said :j

I've lived in Leicester for about 5 years now and I've not visited any other city where all the shops are so easily accessible. Everything is in walking distance and there are loads of shops.

In fact The Shires is being extended considerably so there'll be room for even more :p So there is plenty of places to visit.
