HSBC what bullies!!!!

Hi Everyone
After just about keeping my head above water after a divorce just over 2yrs ago things have reached a critical point. So after reading all the different threads on here I decided to do a DMP with Payplan to try and sort out my £30k worth of debt which I owe to 3 creditors. I have never missed a payment on any of my debts but this was due to living on credit cards and eating at my mums.
On 26/11 I sent a letter with the payments worked out by Payplan I have received calls off NR & Halifax who have so far accepted the payments and not bothered me.
The main company I owe the biggest debit to is HSBC and what a pain in the backside they are!!!!!! I an receiving at least 8 calls off them a day that is just my mobile god knows how many to my house phone. They just dont seem to listen when your trying to explain. Anyway today I completely lost my temper with them ended up crying down the phone. It started with them denying even receiving any payments off me, then the threats started about them eventually deducting from my earnings, they also lied by saying that I'd agreed to a consolidation loan the other day??????? Which I didnt.
This is the 1st payment I have ever missed. The bloke on the phone was just like talking to a wall. Well yesterday I was discharged from hospital after having an op. I think my emotions were abit allover the place. My outburst seem to do the trick they have frozen the interest on my account for now.
Sorry to go on but I just can't believe this bank and the attitude to people I was so cross. How many times can you tell them the same thing ' I can't give you what I haven't got'

Sorry to hear that. HSBC have a bit of a reputation for this, yet actively promote debt advice from these charities..i know some folk have changed their phone numbers etc. There are also template letters on the website for non cantact by phone and only by letters..also you have the option to complain about them..which given the circumstance i would fully investigate.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Here are a coulpe of those letters to stop the telephone harassment. If they call, refuse to answer any security questions and they shouldn't be able to discuss any account with you.

Also I can recommend (if you use internet banking) removing your telephone numbers from your profile, it instantly stopped the phone calls for me! Worth a go in my humble opinion

Thank you both very much I knew this wasn't going to be easy and from reading previous threads on here about HSBC I knew that they were going to be a nightmare. But the constant ringing is doing my head in!!!!!
I'm so knew to all this I don't have a clue with regards to debts been passed onto debt collectors or whats the worst which can happen. If they reject the DMP.0 -
The worst that can happen if they reject it is that you will be taken to court where a judge will berate them for wasting time..you are doing the right thing..remember it is not illegal, is responsible and you are paying your debt..and you don't need millions from the govt either..
Chin up and join in it is a great place on here lots of fab folf who understand what you are going through.
I really have to go now, but i hope you get some peace tomorrow.

I know what they can be like. A couple of years ago I missed a payment on a CC. There was a time when they didn't bother phoning you for what was a relatively minor transgression. However, this was about the time that things started tightening up a bit. I didn't cry down the phone but the guy at the other end was such a wind up merchant, I ended up screaming obscenities at him down the phone. I'm not just talking about a 10 second burst either nor am I referring to mild swear words (obviously can't repeat on here). Later, I went to see my neighbours to apologise. They were actually OK about it as both of them have been hassled by such people so had some empathy.
So if I ever need to come to an arrangement with my creditors, the "no phone calls" letters will be one of the first things I do.0 -
Thank you all once again for help I'm going to sort out those letters asap. I will posting on here again because I think it's a brilliant forum and the support/help you give one another is great.
