Shortest time to qualify in a trade (any)?

Hi guys, I have a pretty random question..


I have an accounting job contract which starts in Sept 09..so that's a fair few months away!

I really want to learn something new and was wondering if there are any industries I could be (exam) qualified by Sept 09?

I know it's quite random, I just want something useful to learn...any ideas?

Quite a few. You can do fastrack courses in electrics, plumbing, gas fitting etc etc etc. And then sit at home having been trousered for £1000's because companies value time served apprenticeships over fastrackkers with a bit of paper and no real world experience.

As long as you don't expect to get a job out of it, carry on. If you're bored and got a bit of cash to burn and a garage, buy a classic car and restore it. At worst, if it goes wrong you take it to bits and sell them off.
