Returning to work part time letter

Hi

I have decided to go back to work after maternity leave and request part time hours. Could anybody advise mewhat to put in the letter other than the actual request?

Thanks

There is a form available on the government website to request flexible working.

You can state your preference but also need to state how the hours you are dropping can be covered - ie compressed hours but less days, job share etc. Do not state that other employees can cover the workload and dont mention childcare.

Try to make it sound positive for the employer and not just for you-that goes down well!

Sorry if you already know, but you can only make 1 request a year - so think carefully about the hours you request!

You only need to inform your employer you are returning and that you wish to make an application for flexible hours - they should then provide the form for you (well mine do anyway!)

    MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to the Employment board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.
