Laser Eye Surgery and the new VAT rate

On the 25th of November, I booked a date for Laser Eye Surgey with Optical Express. On the day, I paid a £200 deposit. My date of surgery is the 20th December and my balance needs to be paid off in full by this saturday (6th December). Am I in anyway entitled to a refund in accordance with the reduction in VAT?? ANy thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I wouldn't have thought you'd get a refund as you have only paid a deposit, but your final bill *should* be less than it would have been (assuming the invoice is raised after 1/12/08).
I would ring them and ask.0 -
Are you sure VAT is charged on surgery?0

I assumed so. I received a bill for it but there is no break down stating if there is or isnt VAT. i assumed there is because it's a private company providing a service. perhaps someone could clear this up?0

Private company makes no difference. If VAT is not shown on your bill, I would guess there is none. Take a look on HMR&T website.0
