Barclaycard full and final.

Does anyone have any info on this ?.I phoned instead of writing a letter obviously with nothing to lose and she told me it was Barclaycard policy to only accept 90% of the balance. She wasnt budging from this at all.
My balance is at £680 so its was a lump sum settlement figure of £612.Hardly worth it is it !!?

Anyone had any joy with Barclaycard or can anyone give any advise on what to do next ?

Cheers

Was the debt with Barclays proper, or has it been passed onto a dca? I strongly suspect that there are no hard and fast rules as to what they can accept and believe (can't prove it) that debt collectors may be earning commission for bringing in a higher proportion of an outstanding debt.

Have you defaulted already (and been served a default notice)? If so, I'd be inclined to wait until they pass it to a dca and you may be able to negotiate much better terms then.
  • I've defaulted and its now with Mercers, who act as DCA for Barclaycard despite being the same company.

I got Barclays down from £1100 to about £872 - don't know if it would be the same with Barclaycard though?
