Hmm, I'm wondering whether to even post this!
Right, I'm soon to be bankrupt due to my ex not paying the mortgage on the house and it being repossessed. The bankruptcy is due to the shortfall once the house sells and the secured loan on the house. My finances have always been stable and I've always kept up payments.
I have a catalogue account, with £150 currently charged to it, and a £2800 limit (which i've never used). I was thinking about paying off the £150 and not including the catalogue in my SOA. But now I wonder, can I buy a few things (xmas pressies for instance) and then just add it to my bankruptcy? Since I'm going to have !!!!! credit anyway so I won't be able to use the account even if I pay off the £150 and don't list it on my SOA.
My head is all over the shop today and i'm unsure if this thinking is logical or not. Help!

If you use the catalogue account knowing that you will be going bankrupt soon, technically it could be classed as "incurring credit with no reasonable prospect of repayment" and lead to a BRO/BRU.0

The above post is spot on.... instead of doing something that could potentially be classed as fraud... why don't you take the £150 cash that you were going to pay off the catalogue and use THAT to buy Christmas presents etc.??If you don't want to know my opinion, don't ask for it!0

Don't do it Hannah. Sorry if this isn't the response you were hoping for, but even if you don't "get caught", you'll probably feel awful about it later, and it's just as well to start getting used to living, er, simply if you're about to go BR as it's quite a culture shock not having credit. You won't get rapped on the knuckles for buying food and paying priority bills.0

Thanks all, that was exactly what I needed to hear! I knew it was daft thinking. Going to make an attempt at the BR form later if I can get my head round it!0
