Im filling out an application form at the moment, on the forms it says
' should have knowledge of housing and council tax benefits',
The thing is i don't have any formal working knowledge of this but im not going to let it put me of applying. through my working life of over 20 years i have on occasions had to rely on benefits ect when not working, would it be ok to put words to the effect of
'I have over twenty years personal experience of filling out housing benefit and tax forms'.
or what else could i put ? any advice would be great
thankyou

Hi jacklink,
You could spin it by saying that you have knowledge and experience of housing benefits and council tax as a claimant and can therefore bring a customer perspective to the role which will enhance the service provided.
Whether it will work or not will depend on how essential it is to the post and whether other applicants have "tick the box" experience.
