Tax Rebate...help

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone can help me
I was working through and agency for 6 months earlier thsi year and was working through a PAYE scheme.

Now, I was told by my workmates that I would be elegble for a tax rebate, due to me paying tax annually but only worked on a 6 month contract..?

Does this sound right?

If so, would I be able to claim the tax back now, or have to wait untill March to submit the claim?

I hope it's true, I'm in Oz and extra cash would be pretty sweet!!!!

You need to download forms P85 and P86 from www.hmrc.gov.uk, fill them in and send them to your tax office with the P45. They will then deal with any refund due.

be prepared for a wait though, I've been waiting for a month so far and they told ME I had a rebate due

So I would be able to claim it back before March then?!

yep - if you've overpaid, they should let you have a statement.
