Beef Jerky is American.........
Now what you really want is Biltong...you can buy it sliced or on slabs take a look here (also have jerky) http://www.biltong.co.uk/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=9. But do hunt around you can also get it on EBay. Expect to pay in the region of £20/kg.0 -
It looks absolutely revolting.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I agree it does look absolutely disgusting - I'd never heard of it before. And don't want to again - YUKK.When I married 'Mr Right', nobody told me his first name was 'Always'. ::rotfl:0

i will check out the web site later
never heard of hyper value but i will hunt it down like a dirty rat, at 50 p i will fly there.
i know it looks horrible but if you are a meat eater, try it, it is absolutely delish.
i only tried it because my brother brought some and i had a taste.
and for the fatties out there, it is healthier than most snacks including all those low fat things, each bag has 50 g of protein and 2 g of fat. so worth trying if you need to lose weight and need your snacks.what is the plural of moose?

Think the packets in Costco were either £3 or £5 but cannot remember as it was a couple of months ago. I was interested to try it but it looks wrong0

Jerky's lovely. I usually buy mine from Ebay (I prefer the teriyaki flavour), but I'll certainly look in Costco next time I'm there to see what they do. Biltong's pretty much the same stuff - at least I can't tell the difference. I'm weighing up the possibility of making my own.
JulesThe ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0 -
Most of the Jerky sold in the UK is actually made/packed by Wild West Jerky on the ISLE OF LEWIS!!!

It isn't any cheaper up there either!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
You might also like to try Droe Boerewors (Droewors) (Dry Sausage). Great teether for the kids mine loved the stuff when they were wee.
I agree if you are not used to the stuff then it doesn't look very appetising but it does taste great (acquired taste) especially when out watching the rugby or with beer.
Agh nie man ...you have me singing "Take me back to the old Transvaal" again....0
