  • Watch it though - I just returned the rock tumbler today. Bought it for my daughter for Christmas. It consists of a plastic drum into which you place a bag of provided stones, water and grinding powder. The drum is then sealed and placed in the motorised unit, requiring you to leave it tumbling for 2-3 days. Sadly the design is very poor, such that the drum would only tumble for five minutes or so before getting stuck - this meant we left a stuck wirring gadget running overnight. No matter what I did to the drive mechanism it wouldn't stop getting stuck. Either this product wasn't tested adequately or mine was duff, yet there didn't seem to be anything wrong with it - merely that the drive wheel was supposed to turn a smooth rubber surface and it just wouldn't...
    am I missing something ??
  • Picked mine up from Dereham today and am very happy with them. The rock tumbler I bought works fine, Ricky. I guess you must have a dodgy one?

  • Had. I exchanged it for a shiny red remote control sports car (daughter chose it) down from £69.99 to £24.99 - much more fun, top speed 18 mph (so my daughter tells me...)

anyway MyUserNamesTaken - if you only picked it up today, and given it takes 2-3 days to work, how do you know yet whether it works ?? Ours tumbled for 5-6 hours before it got stuck...

Been tumbling since this morning, so assume it's ok. Hasn't got stuck yet and it's been going for 8 hours now.

Wanted a tumbler for dd - well for the stones she likes to collect, not to put her in! Have been searching in all local and not so local branches for ages, but none anywhere it seems - boo hoo!
