My No New Stuff Challenge!

Right I've decided that I have way too many clothes and shoes and stuff that I don't wear so I'm not going to buy a single new (inc second hand) item of clothing, pair of shoes or accessories for the next 365 days
I know it's a long time and I'm addicted to charity shops and car boot sales and buy almost everything there but it's time to stop as I'm not wearing the stuff I'm buying.
I'm allowing myself to revamp things I already have but I won't buy anything that's 'new' to me.
If any of you fancy joining feel free, you don't have to do it for the year if you don't want to.

I would like to join this, but not until 1st of January. What I shall not include in this challenge is underwear & socks. At present I have planned to buy a sweater dress, a pair of boots (daily usage) and a couple of pairs of leggings. I don't require any new summer clothing. I have more coats than I need:o. I bought new jeans earlier in the year to replace all my old paint stained and worn ones as well as cardigans for winter. Have enough evening clothes especially considering I rarely go out.
Also I shall not be including clothing for kids in this, just myself.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0 -
Good luck to both of you for this, I have just signed up for 100 day challenge to not buy any beauty products or anything off shopping telly as this is my addiction and leaves me no money for clothes:o

Oh my word... what a challenge
Your idea has got me thinking though - perhaps, from the New Year, I could do something similar in little stages, such as only being allowed something quarterly?! I might be able to get my head around that.
Good grief, you would think that I bought stuff for myself all the time - I dont, really I dont (I'm more guilty of buying things for the kids, if anyone) - but the thought of not being allowed anything new for a whole year scares me! For me, it's the knowing that if we can just get through X,Y or Z, THEN I can think about having something for myself, that keeps me going.
I'm no good at revamping things at all and wouldnt know where to start.
Still, I wish you the best of luck with this challenge ... a mighty one but I'm sure if anyone could do it, you could.
I may well pop back over in January for a smaller "Quarterly Challenge" :rotfl:

Your quarterly aim sounds like a nice easy way to me. One quarter no footwear, another quarter no separates, etc. etc.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

You are all more than welcome to join me on this mad challenge.
I know a year is a long time and that some of you want to cut it down into smaller chunks which is of course fine.
If you could see my bedroom you'd understand why I'm doing it  and I'm not imposing it on my son as he's a growing lad and I don't think it's fair to make him trousers out of my old dresses :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Apart from anything else it will help to keep money in my purse. I know I'm going to have a few tough years ahead so any money I can save now will help in the longer term.I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

I thought I'd better update, it's day 23 and I've still managed to not buy anything.
I had a sort through some clothes yesterday and have a huge box full of stuff for selling off when I get round to it, also found shoes I'd totally forgotten about.
I guess I'm lucky that I don't like 'fashion' so it's rare I see something in a shop I actually like.
I found a couple of t.shirts that don't fit properly and I'm going to make them into vest tops after Xmas, I'll try and remember to take some pics and post the results.I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

Had wondered where this tread had disappeared to, and was starting to wonder if I had just imaged it.
Using Cashback/commission (so technically it hasn't cost me anything) I have bought a blouse to go with my suit for an impending funeral.
I bought my underwear in the January sales as intended. The only other thing that may be bought is socks (which I mentioned when first joining) but will see how long I can get the ones I own to last.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0 -
Well finally know when the funeral is, its on Thursday, and it has helped having one less stress by already having my outfit sorted. Problem now is my daughter, she is 14, but only in 10yr old clothes, have ordered her a size 6 dress, and hoping I can take it in, if not then I have also bought a dress for me, though my lower half is actually an 8. Dress cost £9.30 in sale 50% off.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0
