Has anyone else noticed....

That today VAT has gone down to 2.5% yet supermarket prices seem to have gone up to account for it?

My weekly shop usually costs £70ish. But today expecting it to be in the £60's i was stunned it was £86.98

I sat and looked at the receipt and loads of items had gone up in price.

well on my £100 shop at Tesco they kindly point out I've received my reduced VAT cashback of the princely sum of 12p.

So as Gordon wanted us all to do I'm off to buy a house with my new found wealth

you wont see much food going down, as most food is 0% vat, only the odd thing like i think its biscuits, and some cooked stuff. not much this really wont affect it going down.
vat is normally considered to be on what the government call luxury goods!

Most things will probably stay the same or go up and they will use some reason to justify it. The food is 0% VAT and prices should be coming down so they tell us but everytime I shop I notice increases. Completely fed up with it - rip off Britain at it's best.
