tiscalli hell

HI im new here so not sure where to start my internet surply is with tiscalli which has always been fine untill today i had a bill from a debt collecting company on their behalf saying i now owe £520 as they have not took my direct debit for 6 months!!!!
I have checked my bank and they have not took any money but they also failed to write to me to tell me it was not being paid this is the first i've heard from them!!!!
Really dont know what to do as i have been using the service so should pay for it but feel cheated as they have let it build up to this amount before making contact .
They are asking for immediate payment which we are not able to do as my husband is on low income so funds just are not available plus its only 3 weeks till christmas!!
Am trying to clear debts at present and really could do without this please someone help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

£520? For 6 months? That's not right. What do you get from them? Broadband? everything?

Write them a letter explaining that due to their error you are behind, but are willing to pay extra each month to them to cover the £520. I'd also ask for a breakdown of what that includes. If they've added charges tell them politely but firmly you wont be paying them as it is their mistake.

I think this is a lesson taught to always check DD's have gone out.

Hi its for phone and broadband i've asked for past 6 months worth of itamised bills and have been told this is against their policy as they send bills every month which in my case they have obviously forgot to do.
i agree with checking dd's but just asumed as i had heard nothing from them that they were getting the money wont make that mistake again!!

I ended up owing tiscali over a £1,000 due this exact problem. you should be able to log onto your tiscali account online and look at your bills online.

You should draw a line in the sand now and pay them on a monthly basis. I know from experience that they can't/won't set up a dd while you are in arrears but you can ring up on a monthly basis and make the normal monthly payment to tiscali.

You should pay the arrears to the debt collection agency but only what you can afford.

    Hope this makes sense

That is high it works out at about £83 a month. Surely no broadband supplier costs that, even with extras!

Sammy has given excellent advice, check online and see if you can see an itemised listing.

    Good luck
