Hi there,
I'm new to this forum thing, so please let me know if I am doing anything wrong
Ok, so my husband and I are in a mess with our money, i've spoken to the CCCS this morning and are in the middle of completing a debt plan with them (stupidly didn't have all the information i needed to hand).
They have advised us to open a new bank account with a new bank, we are currently with HSBC and owe money to them on loans and Credit card and overdrafts.
I just wondered if anyone has any advice on which are good banks to go with.
Many thanks in advance

I'm on a debt management plan with payplan. I opened an easycash account with Halifax as they don't do a credit check on you. You don't get any features like an overdraft or cheque book, but thats a good thing as far as I'm concerned.
I do have telephone banking with them and they also allow direct debits and standing orders.
ETA, I have a Visa Electron card with them which is accepted pretty much everywhere.0 -
I have a step account with Nat West, you can apply online, no o/d no cheque book, debit card and DD are OK though.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
Step account worked best for me.
