Collecting a Debt

The mother of a really good friend of mine won a court case a few years ago regarding wages from an employer. The mother is owed around £3000, but the Employment Tribunal does not have any power to enforce payment so the only way this can be done is by issuing a Warrant of Execution.
She has tried many times to issue such warrant, but every time the bailiffs come back saying that the person in question does not live at the property.
She used to work for a care home in Leicester called Jalaram Jyot, owned by a Mrs N. V. Kotak, but this home has since been closed down and no forwarding details left.
We have been asking around and found out that Mrs Kotak has a few properties in Leicester, but whenever the bailiffs visit apparently no such person lives there.
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what could be done about this? Other than knocking on every door in Leicester we have run out of ideas. I have even tried calling every Kotak in Leicester (from the details found in the BT Phonebook) but have had no luck on that front - Mrs N. V. Kotak may not even be listed in the directory.
Someone told me that this debt could be sold onto a Debt Agency and they will give us the money and chase up the debt themselves. Is this true? If so, how can this be done?

I don't have the answer, but I think you should remove such personal details.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
I'm not sure about selling it on to an agency - don't really know how that works. All i can think of is looking at the electoral roll and seeing where she may live, then trying to get either an attachment of earnings or securing the debt against a property she owns.
Make sure she keeps all paperwork. After a certain time a debt can become statute barred, but your friend will need to show the court that she has tried to enforce the debt and when. This should hopefully stop the debt from becoming statute barred should she ever catch up to her.
It may be worth contacting citizens advice or possibly even the court to see if they can advise on how to enforce this debt. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
