what about the story about the guy who was helped by someone on this board?
A guy come on the board asking for coupons etc for a supermarket shop, he was broke, had a few quid and didnt have a lot of money to feed his kids for various reasons. His plight touched one member who said they had some vouchers spare and asked for his address. The next day a supermarket delivery van turned up at his house. The forum member ordered him enough food for him and his children for a week.
Now thats charity from the heart.Lovin Boots and other bargainous places!0 -

Well I fit the age range, we did sort out our financial problems using the advice of MSE, we did do an SOA (but didn't post it at MSE), and we have used the MSE Budget Planner various times in our efforts to cut back even further.
Trouble is, I don't really agree with all that "support and friendship" guff, because that hasn't really been my experience at MSE. Most of the benefit for us has been from going to links that were mentioned in the weekly email, such as how to obtain cheap car inurance, not from asking questions in the forums.
In the parts of the forum that I frequent, "Quick! Grabbit" and matched betting, they don't take any prisoners, and they don't suffer fools gladly! :rotfl:
So I won't be submitting our story - but good luck to those that do!Thanks to all who post constructively.

The grabbit forum is the most popular for obvious reasons. But if you look at other boards there are so many people giving advice and support, often to people in desperate circumstances. I try to visit other parts of MSE now so that I can give something back for all the great bargains I've had from the grabbit forum.
Anna, it may be worth going through some of the forums and pm'ing some posters who have received a lot of support and a high number of responses. It would be quite laborious but it might result in some great stories. Best wishes.0 -
I remember a few months back there was a lady who due to no fault of her own was being evicted from her home with small children, i believe some people from the forum offered advice and went along and helped her to move."Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering"0
