wondering if anyone can help, due to fly out on an internal uk flight next weekend but I can't find my passport, I did apply for an urgent citizen card last week which has a 4 day turnaround but I'm slightly nervous about the post office actually being able to deliver in the timescale, can you still get an emergency passport on the same day if you make an appointment and go in person? or am I completely screwed lol???

Just use your driving licence if you have one.0

I imagine by now you've been able to get in touch with the passport office, but incase you haven't-If you make an appointment before hand you can get a passport on the day you apply.I think it takes a few hours to be processed and costs a fortune but if you need it urgently at least you know it's do-able.Good luck !0

Check the terms and conditions on the airline's website - there should be a list of acceptable ID, and you might find you have (or can get) something on that list more quickly.
You can do a same-day-turnaround passport, but you need an appointment - if you need to do this, phone them NOW. Right now. Pick up the phone this minute.
We had a panic last week when we were told on Monday night that eldest son (14) needed a passport for a trip he was taking on Wednesday - 30ish hours notice. The trip was planned ages ago, I've no idea why the organiser didn't mention the ID thing before! Being 14, he has no other ID with a photo. But we did find out that on domestic flights you can use a passport up to two years after its expiry - and we found out that under-18s don't need photo ID as long as they're travelling with an accompanying adult. In the end he used his expired passport (and I must remember to put "renew passports" on my to-do list...)0 -
Following on from this, ryanair say they need "valid" passport for flights we are taking in January, but my 6 yr old daughters passport expires this week. Does anyone know if we can still use it?Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T0

thanks for all the replies, I phoned up, turns out because I lost it they won't issue same day as "they need to check that no-one else has been using it" even though I know its lost in the house.............so looks like I'm back to hoping the citizen card turns up on time, tomorrow is day 5 of their 4/5 day turnaround and my referee hasn't been contacted yet.........anyway thanks again everyone............Norn Iron Club Member #64

not 100% sure but as far as i know an expired passport is valid for domestic flights for a year not sure thou u need to contact ryanair i suppose
You can get an irish passport in 14days thru the post offices and u dont have to do a stupid interview like the british one, any n.ireland citizen is entitled to one0 -
If you are really stuck, get the application form for the Irish one from the Post Office, then get yourself down to the Passport Office in Dublin ASAP. They will normally issue one either the same day or the next day.0
