How to find out what I owe and where as I do know I have bad credit with some old credit cards and things like that and I would love to find out who, where, how much I owe and the best way to pay them off , some one did tell me that there is a list somewhere and I can get it but they did not know where , so if anyone can shine some light on this for me I would love to know . Thanks

Right then andy, I think a good first start is to get your credit reports, these are held by three companies and list all the credit agreements you have entered into. The three companies are experian

    Equifax

and the smaller, less used Call Credit

I have given you the links to the pages where you can order a copy of your credit report for £2 only. It is a statutory right that you can obtain this information for this price, they will print it out and post it to you. Don;t pay any more than this. If you are feeling savvy then by all means take them up on the offer for a free trial for an online credit report, but you must cancel your subscription within 30days or else you'll get charged for a year subscription. the £2 postal option might be safer!

These'll turn up in no time, then you can make a list of who has provided you with credit then start calling them up and finding how much, at what interest rate etc etc. Post here with any questions first, then you can call fully prepared. Don't worry, once you'be done this you'll be wondering why you didn't sort it out sooner!

EDIT: I should also add (and there are others here who can advise you on this better than I) that, for debts for which there has been no communication from you for over six years, the debt is sometimes written off and can no longer be chased up. If you think this might apply to you then please don't go calling them up and reminding them! It might be safer to deal with the most recent ones first, and then if you have some queries about old debts post them up here and someone will advise. Phew, I can rest easy now!
