Showers, baths etc V cheap at Homebase

I've just bought a Triton Jade 9.5 KW shower (rrp 168.99) for £75 at Hoembase as they have 50% off many bathroom appliances. Some bathroom suites attract an additional 20% off and today (5 Jan) is 10% off day PLUS if you spend more than £80 they are taking off afurther 5%. This means it is possisble to get an entire bathroom suite ( steel bath, close coupled loo and pedestal sink) for under £250.
Anyone thinking of doing up the bathroom should check out their local store pronto! There are other offers too in most depts.

£250 for a standard white bathroom suite is more than I expect to pay at a decent plumber's merchants and I generally get better quality products. A steel bath should cost about £80, close coupled loo with pushbutton flush abot £60 and Sink and monoblock tap about the same.
Homebase is not a low cost supplier of things like this - no matter how many times they knock off a few percent.
The price on the shower is pretty good, but don't believe the discounts. On most of these things, the product lines are exclusive to Homebase (or other DIY shed) and so you can't compare like with like elsehwhere. I would be very surprised if you could find that triton shower outside of homebase at anywhere near the £170 claimed.
RULE OF THUMB - if a supplier spends huge amounts trying to tell you how cheap they are, it's probably because they're not, but they really want you to believe that they are.0 -
I think you'll find that all the bath suites are provided by Jacuzzi UK and therefore can be bought elsewhere and prices compared.0

I thought they took 15% off when you spend £50 not £80?Darren0

You may well be right tha the extra discount kicks in at £50. I was just pleasantly surprised by the lady at the till saying " And that's another 5% off because you've spent £80."
Oddfellow: I've spent the last week looking at various bathroom suites in several diffferent outlets, and, while no expert, would say the current Homebase offers compare very favourably both on quality and value-- which was why I mentioned them ... a quick Google reinforces that view. I know there are cheaper suites around but those I've seen are not really anything I would much want to share my house with.
You may of course know better in which case I bow to your superior knowledge.Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!0 -
