I presume you mean a kettle that goes on top of a cooker. Well you can descale these the same way as an electric kettle, and that is half fill with cold water and then top up to Max with Vinegar, leave over night and wash out well.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

Without a doubt, it is to put about 2 teaspoons of citric acid powder in a 2/3 full kettle of water and bring it to the boil, then let it stand.
The health visitor taught me this method for de-scaleing the baby bottle steriliser without using any harmful chemicals.
Only trouble is Boots don't sell citric acid, as drug users cut it in with their drugs, so you'll have to go to an independent chemist, they will probably ask you what you want it for - descaling!
You must have a go, it works like a miracle.0
