  • Hi again debtfreeplease

Your buildings and contents insurance seems quite high, have you tried looking around, think the sites are https://www.moneysupermarket.com and https://www.confused.com

Also try them for car insurance as that seems high for two cars as well. I pay £25 for buildings and contents (and I have now found cheaper) and £40 for two car insurances. Not sure of your circumstances, but looks as though you could get cheaper. Gas and Electric, I was paying £52, got that down to £44, by checking USwitch and a few others listed on this site.

Not sure about the rest, but hope this helps.
  • thanks for them websites absoloutly brill, just did quotes for the cars and just saved £55.00 on two cars and an extra £12.00 a month on contents insurace.!! so over the year you have just saved me a massive £800.00 over the year. so first thing in the morning i will cancel all them policys :j :j

  • Glad I could help. But all thanks go to MoneySavingExpert.com and Martin of course for providing us all with lots of money saving tips.

Keep up the good work debtfreeplease.
  • Just a quick note, you have buildings and contents listed seperately. I used to have mine with 2 different companies as well. Mine was £41 (!) for both

Then I changed to one provider, and got exactly the same limit of cover and the price is £23.14 for BOTH.

£18 saving a month - better than nothing.

I now use Direct LIne, and have had no problems. (nip over to their website and get a quote tonight)

    Regards

When you've got some time pop over to the Old Style board - don't know what your £350 on shopping covers but there are plenty of people who can give lots of advice about saving money on your shopping, food planning, cleaning using household products etc.

There's a huge wealth of knowledge over there.

Also, and I know it's early days so you probably don't want to think about this yet - but it's worth bearing in mind there are lots of ways you can make a bit of money whilst staying at home - check out the Amazon threads on the Ebay and other auctions board, and there's obviously ebay too - especially with lots of baby things.

Well done with your savings on your car insurance etc - it's amaing what you can do with haggling.

    Keep up the good work
