monthly means monthly
HMRC clearly say monthly is 453
pension goes like this
gross salary
less pension
is taxable salary
less personal allowance of 6039
then next 34800 at 20%
then 40%
so yes you can think of it as your personal allowance is 6039 plus pension if you wish0 -
hi im new on here and not sure how to post a new topic, but as this ones about tax etc thought i would quickly ask my question on here, hope thats ok...
so basically i was waandering if anyone could tell me if im being taxed right as i have just started a new job' heres the figures from my latest payslip
total gross pay TD 5256.24
gross for tax TD 5256.24
Tax paid TD 246.00
earnings for NI TD 2072.00
national insurance TD 128.70
this month i got taxed 140.40 and national insurance was 82.61 im a single parent and my tax code is 603L, I only ask because ive been on various websites and the figures they give me are alot less than im paying.0 -
for your gross pay then your tax is correct
to check NI needs your monthly figures I'm afraid
this months deductions are consistant with a gross of about 1204
to post a new thread ..look at the bottom left of the bar0 -

it works this way
although you are allowed £6035 per year before tax, they spread it throughout the year so you get 6035/12 = 503 per month approx
so for the 8 months april to november you are allowed 6035 x 8/12 = £4,023
your salary for those months was 5254
so you pay tax on 5254-4023 = 1,232 at 20% i.e. £246
NI is based on monthly salary so needs each month salary to work it out but I assume you have only recently started working0
