Will Argos be lowering their VAT?

Many high street stores are already lowing their prices to reflect the lower VAT, but can't find anything on the Argos site.

Anyone heard anything?

they might lower vat but they don't have to lower there prices
  • I already know of one company who is not lowering their prices! So in other words offer prices will actually go up for companies who deal with them and can claim back the VAT.
  • They are lowering their prices on Monday. I'm sure I read on the intranet that prices won't change on the website, but will be reduced in the basket if that makes sense?
  • Smaller companies may take a few days to be to update their systems, bigger companies (and Amazon Marketplace traders) may have to wait whilst the systems upload the new rates so expect delays there for a bit.

Yes the VAT reduction is law, however sometimes the final retail price may be contractularly set for whatever reason and the retailer may not be able to simply reduce the end price without renegotiating.

And dont forget the reduction is 2.13 pence in the pound and not 2.5p as the darn tv kept incorrectly telling people last weekend!!!

So please dont blame the retailers, any delay is not always their fault (its only a week since it was announced)
  • They have already taken VAT off items today.

Remember it only works out at 2.1% or something like that, not the full 2.5%
