ELC have a book amnesty from 5th - 31st January...
"Children enjoy books from a young age and it’s important that, as parents, we keep their interest alive by giving them books relevant to their age and interests.
So we are launching a Book Amnesty in our stores, meaning you can recycle books your children have grown out of by bringing them into store, and we’ll pass them on to children who need them.
Take in up to 5 books, in return, you’ll get 50% off up to 5 ELC books."
In-store only.
I think this is a brilliant idea.

ELC are currently running a book amnesty.
You give ELC up to 5 kids books you no longer read with your child...they'll distribute them amongst kids in the local area.
In return for your books, you get 50% off up to 5 new books you purchase in store. Plus the chance to declutter!
Alternatively, you could nip into the charity shop next to ELC, buy a kids book in a reasonable condition and exchange that instead.;)

I tried it today and it is a great scheme. The books apparently go to local charities or local worthy causes.
I took in books that were in excellent condition as they are going to a good home. However, the shop assistants didn't seem to look at them and it didn't seem to matter what the books are as long as they are for children. The 50% can be taken off any book in the store - it even included a lovely Fairy tale book and CD which with the discount was only £2.50.
The terms and conditions say only 5 books per customer (I guess nothing would stop you going round different stores or if you are braver than I am popping in again on a different day!).
It's definitely worth dusting off those books that don't get read.0 -
Early Learning Centre is running a book amnesty until 31st January. Take up to 5 readable childrens books into its stores and receive 50% discount off up to 5 new ones. The books will be recycled to needy children in the local area.

Seems a good way to stock up on those birthday presents for the coming year as well as doing something charitable.0 -
Was in town today and was passing the ELC and noticed a sign saying
" Bring in up to 5 books your children no longer read to your local store. We'll give them to children who need them and you'll get 50% off up to 5 books"
