Garages Is There An Ombudsman

Just heard back from the garage after the MOT they said there is around £630 worth of work that needs doing
so i got a price for everything that needs doing
i was quoted
brake disk £40 +vat x 2
brake pads£40 +vat x 2
front shocker £50 + vat
starter motor £87 +vat
and £200 for labour
so i called a company that sell car part and was quoted
brake disk £10 each inc vat
brake pads £10 each inc vat
front shocker £43 inc vat
start motor £62 inc vat
also called another garage they quoted me £80 for labour
what shall i do about it im so pi**ed off
sorry for posting this twice i tried to cancel this because i put wrong prices on but the little !!!!!! got through

Different garages charge different prices - like everything else!!
If you think the testing station failed WRONGLY, check the failure form & appeal. Probably not worth the bother, though!!
I'd also suggest NOT changing ONE shock absorber - replace as a pair, for better stability & handling.
