1. Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
2. The Promoter is Peregrine Tours Limited (from hereon The Promoter or Peregrine) of First Floor, 8 Clerewater Place Lower Way Thatcham Berkshire, RG19 3RF UK. Registered in England and Wales No: 6072876. Peregrine Tours Limited is a member of the TUI Travel PLC Group of Companies, of TUI Travel House, Crawley Business Quarter, Fleming Way, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 9GX, United Kingdom.
3. Entry is open to residents of the United Kingdom only. However, employees and their immediate families of the Promoter, News International Limited and News Corporation, and their associated agencies and companies are not eligible to enter.
4. The competition commences on 27 November 2008 at 00.01 (London time) and concludes on 12 December 2008 at 00:01 (London time).
5. To enter, participants must visit www.peregrineadventures.co.uk/times and register their details including (but not limited to) name and e-mail address. Participants must also provide an answer to ‘the Question’: In 25 words or less, please tell us why you want to travel with Peregrine to the High Arctic?
6. This is a game of skill, the winner will be chosen by a representative of The Promoter based on their answer to the Question. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that does not provide all required information or does not answer the Question. Incomplete and incomprehensible entries will be deemed invalid.
7. Entrants under the age of 18 must obtain the prior permission of a parent or guardian over the age of 18 to enter. If the winner is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded to the winner’s nominated parent or guardian. Any minor guest must be accompanied by parent/legal guardian on the voyage. Voyage is not recommended to children under 16 years of age. The decision for any person under 18 years of age to travel is at the absolute discretion of the Promoter.
8. The Promoter reserves the right to request the winner to provide proof of identity and proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address in order to claim a prize. Proof of identification, residency and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter. In the event that a winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.
9. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entry which, in the opinion of the Promoter, includes objectionable content, profanity, potentially insulting, inflammatory or defamatory statements, disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms & Conditions of Entry or who has, in the opinion of the Promoter, engaged in conduct in entering the Promotion which is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive or generally damaging to the goodwill or reputation of the Promotion and/or the Promoter.
10. Entries must be received by 00:01 (London time) on 12 December 2008. The time of entry will in each case be the time the Promoter’s database receives the data for the entry. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected entries including entry data not received by the Promoter due to technical disruptions, network congestion or for any other reason.
11. The cost of accessing the promotional website will be dependant on the entrant’s individual Internet Service Provider.
12. PRIZE DETAILS: Prize consists of two berths in a Superior cabin on the Peregrine Spitsbergen, East Greenland & Iceland 13-night voyage departing 6 July 2009, for two people. The prize is inclusive of return economy flights from London Heathrow, charter flight, one additional nights’ accommodation in Longyearbyen (Spitsbergen) and transfers in Longyearbyen and Reykjavik. The voyage includes arrival and departure transfers, onboard accommodation in a Superior cabin (twin share), all voyage meals, activities and excursions (excluding kayaking which is an optional activity at an additional cost of £260 per person), and an onboard education program.
13. Total estimated prize value is £10,030. Value may fluctuate due to changes in airfare cost. The prize value is based upon the recommended retail prices at the time of printing. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for change in prize value between now and the ultimate prize redemption date.
14. This trip can only be taken on the specified date: 6-19 July 2009.
15. Accommodation is provided on a twin share basis. The winner and guest must travel at the same time and are responsible for transport from their residence to London Heathrow for flight departure.
16. This prize is non-transferable, non-refundable, cannot be sold or exchanged for cash, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
17. The prize and booking of the prize is subject to the standard booking terms and conditions of the Promoter as per back of The High Arctic 2009 brochure.
18. NOT INCLUDED: Additional expenses, including transfers in the UK, visa and passport fees, airport taxes, meals and drinks not specified in the itinerary, travel insurance and emergency evacuation charges (which are compulsory, please see below), any optional tours or activities during free time including kayaking (at an additional cost of £260 per person), gratuities to staff and crew, items of a personal nature, laundry, postage, telephone calls and medical expenses, are at the winner’s and their guest’s expense.
19. Adequate and valid travel insurance, obtained at the winner’s and their guest’s expense, is compulsory. Insurance must cover accidents, injury, illness and death medical expenses, including any related to pre-existing medical conditions, emergency repatriation (including helicopter rescue and air ambulance where applicable) and personal liability. The Promoter also recommends it covers cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. The winner and their guest must carry proof of insurance and produce it if reasonably requested by the Promoter’s employees or suppliers. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel or suspend participation in the trip or in certain activities that comprise part of a trip, at any time, including after the commencement of the voyage, with no right of refund, if the winner and their guest are unable to provide proof of insurance when requested.
20. It is the winner’s and their guest’s responsibility to carry a valid passport and appropriate visas.
21. The winner and their guest must advise the Promoter of any pre-existing medical condition and/or disability that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of requiring medical attention, or that might affect the normal conduct of a tour and the enjoyment of other trip members. The winner and their partner must provide an assessment of their medical condition from a qualified medical practitioner. The Promoter reserves the right, at its reasonable discretion, to cancel the booking or cancel participation in the trip at any time, including after the commencement of the trip, with no right of refund, if the winner’s or their guest’s medical condition and/or disability could be reasonably expected to affect the normal conduct of the trip and the enjoyment of other trip members.
22. The winner will be issued with a travel voucher and instructions about how to redeem the prize from the Promoter.
23. The prize is subject to flight availability. The prize cannot be changed once the booking has been made. Reservations must be made at least 90 days prior to the departure date of the voyage.
24. It is the winner’s and their guest’s personal responsibility to ensure that they have valid documentation, including but not limited to valid identification, which meets the requirements of any government authorities at the destination. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be the sole responsibility of the traveller/s.
25. By entering this competition, entrants accept and acknowledge full responsibility for their decision to participate in this prize should they be chosen as winner. The winner and their guest release the Promoter and other organisers, their related bodies corporate, affiliates, officers, agents and employees, from all liabilities, loss and damage of any kind arising at any time out of or in connection with the acceptance of, and participation in, the prize. Without limiting the foregoing, the released parties not be liable for any injury, sickness or death, property loss or damage or other direct or indirect loss or damage of any kind, howsoever sustained or incurred, in connection with or arising out of the prize or any other aspect of the prize. The winner and their guest acknowledge that they have been warned that there is a possibility of an accident causing injury, death or property damage in accepting the prize.
26. If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value.

By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to participate in and co-operate as required with all reasonable The Times or Times Online (only) editorial requests relating to the prize, including but not limited to, being interviewed and photographed, or filmed. In consideration for the Promoter awarding the prize to the winner, the winner hereby assigns to the Promoter all right, title and interest in and to all copyright in any material created pursuant to the winner’s participation in any aspect of the prize (Works). The winner acknowledges that the Promoter is free to use the Works and to exercise its rights in relation thereto and the winner will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
28. In the event that for any reason whatsoever the winner does not take an element of the prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of that element of the prize.
29. Independent financial advice should be sought as tax implications may arise as a result of accepting the prize.
30. Each valid entrant who has entered the competition over the duration of the promotional period will be entered into the competition. The winner will be chosen by a representative of the Promoter based on their answer to the Question. One valid entrant will be chosen. The judging will take place at the Promoter’s Head Office - Level 4, 380 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia on 17 December 2008.
31. The winner will be notified by e-mail within 2 days of the draw and will also be notified of their prize in writing. The winner’s name will be published on www.peregrineadventures.co.uk/times until 24 December 2008.
32. Should an entrant’s contact details change during the promotional period, it is the entrant's responsibility to notify the Promoter. A request to access or modify any information provided in an entry should be directed to the Promoter.
33. Prize must be claimed by 16 January 2009 and if the prize remains unallocated or unclaimed, the prize will be awarded to the runner up (chosen based on their answer to the Question) by the same representative of the Promoter and at the same place as the original judging.
34. The Promoter’s decision is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the Competition result.
35. It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner may be required to sign a legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
36. In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions.
