anyone use lanolin?

I need some to waterproof my sons new woollen pants that he will wear over his cloth nappies.

Apart from the cloth nappy sellers on the web, does anyone know where else might sell lanolin (at a cheap price hopefully)?

thanks

  • Baldwins herbs usually have it, and many of the soapmaking/cosmetics supply houses will have it.
Never seen it particularly cheap though, its a fairly pricey ingredient these days, and whilst your son is likely to be fine, you might want to patch test him before you treat the pants as a very few people come out in a rash with lanolin.

The last lot of lanolin I purchased was via eBay ... Ripon Witch was the seller I seem to recall.

Glad you posted this ... I need to go hang my daughter's wrap up to dry!!

you can buy it from a chemist shop but it is known by its chemical name of hydrous (SP?) wool fat not sure of the cost though and they may have to order it in for you
  • Dont you need the anhydrous lanolin for nappies, rather than the hydrous one which has added water?
