Returning TV/DVD to ASDA

Last month I purchased a TV/DVD Combo from ASDA. It was very cheap and I did not expect it to last for ever. However, after 2 weeks of use it has 'died'. I telephoned to ask for a refund and was told this would not be a problem. I informed them that I did not have the original packaging (as I don't have the space to store a massive box full of polystyrene), and again was told this was OK. I was telephoned and told that I would need to find a box to put the TV in.
I am quite happy to do anything within reason, that won't cost me in terms of time or money, in order to assist this process, but I'm not willing to go out of my way when I think I have already kept my part of the bargain by paying for the goods. My view is that ASDA have let me down by providing me with poor quality goods, and should be doing all they can to rectify the situation.
This isn't just a rant at ASDA, I'm actually looking to find out if anyone else has had similar problems with ASDA and how they dealt with them, plus what the result was (i.e. did you get a satisfactory outcome?).

Id just take it back. Ive seen DVD players at my local asdas customer service desk not in a box just brought back.Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
