Moorcroft DRL Help

I recieved a letter today, its the 2nd one from them saying i have missed a payment to bt of 19.73.
This amount i admit was a month late, and i phoned bt to ask them to extend it by 30 days which they did.
So i paid this in 2 lots. one payment for £15 and the other of £4.63.
They recieved this payment 2 days late.
Anyway, i had a letter first saying i owed 24.67 for the outstanding 19.63 bill, so i phoned moorcroft and advised them i had paid it. they said well you can make a token payment today, i said no, i paid what i owed and im not paying no more.
Now today i have a letter saying.
Our records show that you defaulted on the agreement to pay bt 19,63 with the result being you have arrears of 10.79.
Unless payment is made my return of post we may instruct our solicitors to commence legal procedding against you without further notice.....
After reading the letter again, i realised there is a slight spelling mistake to my name.
Any ideas.
Bt still owe me a £50 deposit i paid to put the phoneline on. I left they amd went to sky so they said i had to wait another 6 months.
Thanks

Not a very helpful reply from stapeley!
Personally speaking i havnt got £10 or £23 going spare!!!
Infact i have zero cash till monday! And then thats all spoken for!
Ive had experience of Moorcroft chasing me for £38..........this apperently being for a dial up internet account from Demon.............Which i used on a FREE 1 month trial, and then cancelled!!!!!!!!!!!!
Silly me cancelled by email, and then deleted their reply the confirming cancellation!
Then out of the blue, several months later..........i receive demands and court threats from ,because they say ive failed to pay for my internet acces for the last 3 months!
Well you cant explain or argue with these people.............So i just send them a Token £1 a month payment.............the same as my legitmate creditors receive, of who i owe £1000's!
Anyway thankfully Moorcroft have gone quiet now! And long may they stay so!!0 -
I have to say that I'd probably just try and find a friend or family member to help out in this case. I've been chased over similarly small amounts in the past and DCAs can get very venomous about them. I think that this may be what stapeley was implying, although he/she didn't really explain why you may be better off just paying
As for the £50 deposit - this is correct (6 months before they return it). This is usually stated before you take out a phone line with them (it was for me, anyway). In fairness to them (hard for me, I loath BT), they returned it exactly when they said they would.0 -
Speaking for myself, i can now smile at it all.....................ironically!
Having felt Harrassed, bullied and threatened for debts I DO owe.........and then Suddenly having Moorcroft chasing me for £38, which i Dont owe........... no longer scares me!
A lesson learnt.......... NEVER EVER delete cancellation conformation emails! Ive learnt that the hard way!

i cant get through to bt, well i can but an overseas call centre and they keep saying my balance is zero and they dont know why.
I wonder what moorcroft would do if i sent them proof of the nil balance.
with the spelling mistake in my name could i send the letters back not known at this address?Live each day as if its your last0 -

You may like to Google the Recorded Delivery Service Act 1962 (c.27) (available from OPSI for nowt!) as it deals with some of the rules relating to how notice can be served at your last known address etc. for legal papers (God forbid!)
I'm not sure if a mis-spelled name would stand up legally. :eek:0
