thanks el6724 I will try tomorrow, it was strange as I gave the cashier other vouchers and they all went through OK, but when it came to the Mail vouchers the machine just beeped - I wonder if my local Tesco could block them ? doubt it - tomorrow if they don't scan again I will suggest to the cashier that she uses the scan gun to see if it reads the barcode.

deb wrote:just been to tesco - the cashier wouldnt take the coupons as it says in the t&c's that you have to buy the mag. she called the supervisor over who backed her up. i have used loads of these before and I was so annoyed that I just went round again and used the coupons - they scanned fine for me - but beware that some cashiers are just awkward!!
Keep the vouchers and go in another day and use them. Just make sure you go to someone thats young and couldn't care less. Always works for me.0 -
Good Morning, went to Tescos today, picked up xmas wrapping paper 17p a roll, gift sets for £2.98, some clothes in the sale and rabbit bedding and food. Looked to see who was on the till but didn't recognise anyone that usually takes my vouchers so I chose a lady at random in her mid-40's. (No teenagers there today). Thought oh well here goes, she is going to recite the - no buy no discount chapter and verse at me BUT no she didn't she scanned all my Mail vouchers through and other assorted ones. On a £28 shop I ended up paying £12.00 - £16.00 discount !!! I used 3 x 2 of the Daily Mail vouchers with no problem, perhaps the other cashier was faking it, ie she pretended they didn't go through ?
Anyway, thanks for encouraging me to try again as probably they would have ended up in recycling.

I tend to go to the same people, as they always seem to be working when I go in with vouchers.
There is one women who takes the vouchers, but the way she scowls as she's putting them through you'd think I was taking money from her purse or something. So I always try to go to her to wind her up!0 -

You've got a wicked sence of humour... unfortuantely this is the perception that many of them have. There is no need to run outside

Yes but when I go to the young chaps on the tills and get all chatty and friendly with them - I reckon they think I am an "older" lady on the pull !!!!

Not really used any vouchers from mags/newspapers as I don't buy them. We shop at tescos, so, what i am asking is - do they accept vouchers if you have not bought the product?0
-
yes inkie they do for example as I posted here I spent £28 today and had £16 off using vouchers, as long as the vouchers scan and Tescos sell the item then you "should" be able to use them. I say should because some cashiers will say no, whilst others will take as many as you give them, in that sense Tescos can be rather inconsistent and many threads have referred to this.

I had a discount of £38 from two trips to Tesco today. The amount of people I see with £150 baskets and I think to myself how much money they could save by splitting the shopping and using these vouchers. Over a year it would quite a bit just for a little bit of time and planning.0 -
Great find. The £2.90 coupons cashed fine!!! Thanks a lot!0
