Liable for cost of mistake in job ?

A person we know was on trial as a doctors receptionist and made the unfortunate mistake of locking the surgery up and going home whilst the doctor was still in his office. When he moved he set the alarm off and the Police came to investigate.
The surgery is being charged a £150 call out fee by the police and the doctor is planning on sacking her and taking the £150 out of her pay.
Is this legal ?
WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?

Not unless such deductions are listed in her contract of employment.

Sadly there's nothing to stop him sacking her in the first 12 months but she should receive pay in lieu of notice (period as stated in her contract) if they tell her not to work her notice plus outstanding holiday pay.
