How Can I Remove A Default From My Credit Report

Hi I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I have recentley checked my credit report and found out i've just had a new default added by Capital One:mad: ....I informed Capital One of my new address back in April 08 but my details were not updated. I continued to receive statements until May as my mail was redirected. Because of the move it wasnt till I recenley lost my card and phoned to report it, i remembered I hadnt be receiving statements. I explained everything to capital one and immediatley paid the debt in full(although my card was cancelled). I asked if they would remove the default because of the circumstances plus I NEVER received any default notice!!! The manager was very unhelpful and told me the default would not be removed as it was my own mistake. This is really effecting my credit scoring especially now I'm planning to apply for a mortgage soon.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

No unfortunatley I completley forgot about the card, I hardly use it. The charges will have brought it over limit. I can prove about the mail direction ending in May.0
