Please can anyone give advice on this???

Good evening peeps.
-
A few weeks ago I received a letter from lowell to say I owed money (£32.64) from a 3 mobile contract in 2004, I have never heard amything from 3 themselves!! I actually don't believe I owe it either, so I called them and asked them to prove it and after a while then he agreed to it, however I received a letter today threataning court action if not paid within 72 hrs?? , so I called again and she said they didnt need to prove it to chase it and they only bought my name add and number so I had a go at her for th terrible attitude she then proceeded to put the phone down on me!!.

Please can anyone help in what to do next?
I have to dash to pic my dad up from hosp but will call back later .

Many Thanks

I can't believe it's worth their while to chase a debt for £32.64.

I agree with bryan b - tell them that you deny all liability for the alleged debt but you would understand if they wish to test that assertion in court.

All future correspondence (from them) is to be in writing and harassment will be reported to...(make your own list here).

There's a good chance that this one will just disappear.

Have you checked your credit file lately?
  • hi thanks for the replys , yeah checked my credit file for the first time ever and it showed a default from 2004, But I can remember endin the contract as they wern't able to offer me a better deal at the time so I went elsewhere so I don't think I owe it , but if I do I am happy to pay it but they just don't seem to care that it may be a fault. I just don't want a ccj for £32 as my mortgage is up for renewal in Aug next year!

Do you think I should just pay it to shut them up??.....but all I keep thinking is that they are getting free money and its a weeks shopping for me and OH.

I must admit though I give her what for on the phone, I can see how people get depressed/suicidal from these companys as there horrible, However I was that angry SHE put the phone down on ME!!

You're not going to get a ccj for £32.

It sounds like you can be pretty blunt - I'd sugest a 'prove the debt or remove the default' approach.

I presume the credit file shows a default to 3. You're going to have to write to them. Unfortunately, they will not be very interested if they have sold the debt to Lowell. It may stay on your file till 2010.

    Anyone else?
