since losing job in june 2004-due to ill health, depression anxiety.(which i still suffer with, sometimes unable to leave my home), i have over a 6month period got in a mess,i always paid cards loans etc on time and more than i should...i.e..minimum payment plus next months interest....and a bit more.
i ran into rent arrears with the council and had to go to court to save that..all to do with my illness and not being sure on claims i could of made,my illness did not help matters in understanding at the time what mess i was getting into, hence a very emotional 3 weeks not knowing if we were to lose our home or not.thankfully all went well, and got back dated HB and CTB which credited my account by nearly 800 pounds.but still waiting to hear if i can get my secure tenancy back,HOPEFUL,is my shelter advisor.
since april 2004 and visit to CAB,i have been paying £1 a month to all my creditors, some froze interest others didnt...regardless they still only got pound each, each month.
lloyds tsb credit card(asset)...???makes you laff dont it....anyway,this week received CCJ,northampton court saying they expecting £125 amonth, there is no way i can do this.....we just get by at the moment.
I'd really appreciate any help you can give me on what i do about CCJ i cannot pay.
payments to anyone are made by postal order which is costly,..as i do not and cant get bank account with extras as cheques.....
i have informed my creditors every step of the way of my fanancial situation and advice and assistance i have had and whom from...
i know my debt is mine,i know i spent the money,I WANT TO PAY,but i feel like im being bullied into a corner to get a job..to make me able to pay more payments...but recently i have had to quit a little cash in hand cleaning job,£25 a week, due to my nerves and not feeling safe out of the house....this little job was on top of benefits, and i was setting up a DMP with UK national debtline of £100 per month....to start part time work...and claim all over for what im entitled whilst working...i am not ready...i left one job i had had for over 2 years as was not fair to my boss...as i didnt know when i was to return or be better, hence money got tight...so i did and hey presto was sacked coz of time off due to my illness...not held down a job since.
i have all the papers to fill in for bankruptcy which kindly my brother in wiltshire helped me do....but saving up for the court fees £365,which possibly take me 3 months or more...but i got 1 CCJ whilst doing so,and scared of what will happen next...i have my kids to think of..i dont want to go to prison, was bad enough the thought of them losing their home of 12 yrs...they just recovering now bless em...
please help.am i doing the right thing?
a little tearful Mumfie...x0 -
Mumfie you'll get a much better response if you start your own thread with all the info you've just put up here.
Just copy the text of your post. Then on the main board page just find the "start new thread" button, give it a title and paste in your message!

Hi,
I have been stuck with my ex's debt on a 'joint' credit card but with myself as the main cardholder. Does anyone know of anyway of making him responsible, he does not have a good credit rating??
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi everyone not sure if this is the right place to post this question or not.
I make £12,500 a year
I have a Lloyds TSB Visa Card with £5000 (debt)
I have a Llyods Loan £6000 (debt)
I am currently with my partner who doesnt work at the moment so I have the only income.
I have stayed with my partner (her council house) over 7-8 years at our present address.
Is there a way I can put these on 1 Loan and make smaller payments, as what I am paying just now, we struggle to get buy a month.
I heard martin on Radio 2 about something about a card you can move it to but dont use the card for any reason (does that make sense?)..
Please any help would be appreciated as we have tried everywhere.
Thank you0 -
We don't mind helping everyone.
However, if you start your own thread you can all have personal attention. That way we know what we are typing is relevant to that particular person.0 -
Hello everyone.
This is one of my first posts, so am still getting to grips with how this all works. Hope I am in the right place!
My problem is with my credit card payments (and overdraft if I am honest). I have been for advice at the CAB, where I have been advized to lay out my budget (SOA, as you call it), and write to my bank (HSBC) to try to negotiate freezing my interest rates and repaying a manageable amount each month. At present I am repaying minimum amount at about £102 per month on cc (total debt:£3500) and about £100 per month on my overdraft - interest and charges for going over agreed limit - (total overdraft: £2000). I also have £500 on an Egg credit card (monthly repayment: around £12), and £150 GE money card (monthly repayment: around £6).
My question is about freezing or capping. I do not really understand this, and whether it has consequences for my credit rating. My debt is not sufficient to bankrupt myself (as my further £20,000 debt - student loan from LEA and charitable foundation cannot be included and are not at my door in the same way as HSBC). Also, will I need to pay for this negotiation with my bank?
I will post my SOA to give a better picture, but would really appreciate some initial advice on capping.

Over the Xmas period we have been harrassed by Lloyds TSB who told us we had a problem with my account. We continued to tell them we closed all previous accounts after a fall-out. They said I would have to give them information to verify who I was and I told them no, I did not have an account with them so I had no need to.
During one 'phone call an operative told my wife that I did have an account with Lloyds TSB because our mortgage is with Cheltenham and Gloucester, a member of the Lloyds TSB group.
Eventually after two letters saying this account was £597.68 in arrears I found out from another harrassing telephone call where I was told 'you can't keep burying your head in the sand', that the branch where the account is held is in Ashton-in-Makerfield, a town I have visited but never had reason to open an account there. I suggested it was a case of mistaken identity. I was told to go into the branch to prove my innocence!
A couple of days later I recieved another letter telling me that a third party had requested Lloyds TSB to change the address on my account(s)?
I telephoned the Collections Centre and found that this particular request was about an account in Leigh where I used to live. I vaguely recognised the account number.
This account is apparently a fee-paying account called a 'Select' account where the account holder is charged £7 per month. I can't believe that I agreed to this type of account.
Lloyds TSB say they have only been able to contact me because they didn't have any of my details for the past five or six years and that a 'Tracer' company? actually found me on the 20th of December 2006.
The accounts with Lloyds TSB were closed in or around September 2001. Eight months later we moved to St Helens. Our mortgage on the previous property was with the Cheltenham and Gloucester, the mortgage on our current property is with the Cheltenham and Gloucester. Twelve moths ago we applied for a loan with Lloyds TSB but we were turned down.
Has Lloyds TSB acted reasonably in trying to contact me over the outstanding account?
Do I have any recourse?0
