mot/repairs/maintenance 15

total 1218

surplus 50

these are all actual figures-small house-am i ok as even if some of it is disallowed (eg. internet/christmas) i would need a surplus of £99 + £ 135 (my child benefit) = £234 before a payment order is made?

it hardly seems like i could trim by expenses by £234!!!!!!!!!

so am i ok to think I am safe with these figures?
can't help but worry about this all.

  • hello singleme as our only income is benefits you will not have to do a ipa thingy so it doesnt matter about having surplus. i am in the same boat as you

  • omg- really?! i have had soo many sleepless nights over this stuff-that is really good to know- i got my cashminder stuff today -so feel i getting there but court date not until 7th jan!!!!!!!!!!
  • cause its basicly the govenment decides thats the amount you need to live on so they cant take it. even if you do have a surplus. i was advised to up everything anyway as if you go to work before your discharged they will look into the original SOA and the new working one and work out a ipo/ipa thing(think i need to learn the technical words really when givin advice) so its best to not leave yourself short. a bankruptcy SOA is different from a DMP SOA as they try to make you cut back on everything to get more money for the debts but a br one doesnts expect you do only buy cheapy cheapy brands and sit indoors, they still want you to have a life thats why some OR allow a holiday fund. my court date is for 18 dec and im crapping it abit

  • the basic jist of the SOA is just to make sure you can survive on your income after br

  • Hi singleme,

your gas and elec look quite low - I know you said these are your actual figures, but as the prices are going up so much at the mo it wouldn't hurt to up these figures a bit. Lisa's right - they won't give you an IPA while on benefits but make sure your SOA is reasonable in case you have to revise it later.

I'd put £35 for MOT / repairs / maintenance - even if it's a reliable car. Try upping the clothes allowance - two growing children are expensive! Maybe £65?

The rest looks absolutely fine. All the best for the 7th Jan - try not to think about it too much til after Christmas, not easy I know but it would be a shame to let it overshadow too much. Just think - after 7th Jan you have a brand new start! CBx:D

£5 per child per week for childrens' activities, so £40, singleme.
    Surplus, what surplus?
    Good luck!

Thats great that you've got all this done a month early - I do everything at the last minute! Now you can enjoy the holidays.
