Barclay Card Debt Letter over 10 years old - need advice x

I had a Barclay Card over 10 years ago which my Ex used - this was being paid off by my Ex. When I moved out he assured me (me stupidly believing him) that this was continuing to be paid until I had rude awakening and recieved notification by Experian in November 2006 that I had a CCJ court dated in January 2000 for nearly £1950 - this was never satisfied. The 7 years ended in January 2007.
I have today recieved a letter from a debt company requesting payment for the full amount plus some extra charges - can someone please tell me where I stand legally - Does this need to be paid by myself? Can I chase my Ex for payment?
I thought I had heard the last of this when this was removed from my credit file in January last year.
Thank you, Kayte

Sounds like this should be statute barred and buried to me, as the limit is six years, so they shouldn't even be asking!
Somewhere around here there is a template letter to send in cases like this - it basically says 'get knotted', but in lots of nicely grandiose legal terminology.
And I'm sure someone who has the link to it will be along soon!

If there was a CCJ for this debt, then it won't be statute barred. The DCA will however need to reapply to the court for permission to enforce the debt.
I would give Nationaldebtline a rin. They have a bit of info on CCJ's that have not been enforced for more than 6 years.

Ah, OK - thanks George! Still learning about all this stuff...

Write to them asking for a copy of the signed Agreement. If they can't find it, you owe them nothing.0

Above not true sorry . There is a CCJ so if the DCA apply for enforcement it could be granted . You would have a chance to contest it , and non production of a CCA may swing it in your favour .0
