Asking for a reduction or freeze in interest?

How does this affect your credit rating if you carry on paying your CC or store card without any default?

I'm paying things off nicely because it is my debt but since losing my job I wondered if they could change interest rate until I started working again. I have no intention of letting any more debts stack up!

As long as you are paying the required amounts there shouldn't be a problem.

I would ask for a reduction in interest rates (don't say you are struggling or anything, someone recently did this as a bluff and was asked to send back his card). Say you have noticed that other banks appear to have lower rates (might be worth noting a few incase they ask) and that you heard recently that the government was trying to crack down on this. It's been in the news with Mandelson recently.
