New VAT rate - will wedding be cheaper?

Hi y'all

I wonder if someone could simply tell me if, with the new VAT rate, will the cost of services, meals, flowers, room hire etc be cheaper for my wedding next March?

What is included in the VAT cut? And will it apply even if I've already booked certain things and paid deposits??

What matters is the invoicing date. If the company invoices today - they'll charge you 17.5% - if they invoice next week - it'll be 15%.

However, it also depends how the price was quoted to you. If it was £1000 for the job - then the company have the option of still charging £1000 and pocketing the £25 extra.

Long and short of it - it's up to the company - but you could probably negotiate the cut.
