Medion Digital Camera £50 @ Somerfields

Waved under my nose as soon as I got in from work this evening......An advert from Somerfield.....

Is there an LCD screen?
If not i wouldnt bother how would you know if the pics are good until you got home?

Also for 3mpx i think the empire store offers that where floating around that where far better for that money

I think this is the newer version of the one we got Shaboo Junior earlier this year from Kwiksave (his is a Medion MD 41084) but the specs are nigh on identical.

Two negatives,

1. It eats batteries (AAA) and Medion only recommends Alkaline are used (not tried it with rechargeable)

2. a switch on his camera malfunctioned after only a few weeks but as we'd bought it some 7 or 8 weeks previously (and kept it for his birthday), Kwiksave wouldn't refund but advised we contact Medion. Fair do's to Medion they asked us to send it back and after a couple of weeks we got a brand new replacement and a refund of postage (although I did have to phone to remind them about that) and it's worked perfectly since.

Pros: Good specs for the price, takes some very decent photos especially in good light and takes video clips (with sound?) which Junior is playing with currently to join them together and make a Skateboarding film!!!

All in all, if I was in the market for a digital camera and my max budget was £50 then it's definitely worth buying, if however you wanted a digital camera for general photography and your budget was around the £100+ mark but you were attracted to this because it was cheap then I would advise to look for a camera from the likes of Fuji or Canon or Olympus with an optical zoom.

If you want anything with a zoom & half decent pics stay away. Digital zoom isn't worth mentioning as every zoom reduces the number of pixels in the picture. If you want a digital camera with a zoom look for 'Optical zoom'.

You can get 3megapixel camera with 3 x optical zoom from around £80 - £100.

EVERYONE BEWARE!!!
All these digital camera offers such as a 5mp camera for less that 100£ arent all as good as they seem!!!!!
The somerfield one says "interpolated" in dunno what that means but i kno it aint good
do some research beforehand
