Claim jobseekers after self-employment?

Could anyone give me some advice please?
I have been self-employed for 2 years as a childminder, I have found out as of January I will no longer be needed and I had been thinking for some time of a change of career anyway.
So as of January I will have no income, be available for work and actively seeking work...could I claim?
I am married but my husband is no longer working as he is starting a university course in January and left his job (great-timing eh? not!).
We have a 3 year old son.
Does anyone know what we could claim whilst I am seeking work and roughly what amount we will be entitled to? I have looked on several website but it is a bit confusing as to whether we can claim as a couple or a different rate as we have our son ...
Help please!
