Occupational Pension simply put

I have an NHS occupational pension , can someone please explain in simple terms what will happen if I get (not what I want but looks more likely that is what I have to do) Physically Unfit Retirement... I understood that I would only receive the same amount as if I had worked to normal retirement age of 60 in my case, but on speaking to the Occupational Health Doc he said that they will enhance the pension . He was not very clear on this , did he just mean that they would make it up to retirement age or is there some other way it would be boosted because of the P/U retirement...
I am getting in touch with Union/HR but I just need to get a quick reply to this question............. Thanks
