usually the only way around this is if you have a medical reason (pretty easy to fake *cough*) good luck

When I joined LA Fitness, they wouldn't let me cancel my contract after I damaged all the tendons in my foot and couldn't do anything (this was only a few weeks into the contract as well!)

I hope you get it sorted, but I suspect they'll hold you to it.
  • thats a good idea, ill freeze it i think its £5 but at least its not £43 i dont have!! i do plan on going back i need to put weight on due to stress :(

I had the same problem and tried to ignore them as it was for onloy £200 and then ended up taking me to court. Best thing to do is talk with them to agree a lesser rate or look at the comntract terms and conditions about cancelling you may oinly have to pay so much. If not cancel it and agree payment terms that are suitable for you.

I am trying to do the same with Virgin Active. I am in a 12 month contract and trying to cancel. Does anyone have details of who I can write to at head office. Maybe the MD.
  • They might cancel it if you have moved away.

I have moved away but they are not prepared to cancel. I need to write to Head office, but need names. Can anyone help??
  • They took you to court? I know another gym who have never bothered to chase anybody when they leave before the 6 months are up.

  • Usually if you move to a location where they don't have a gym, they'll let you out. Maybe you can get creative there! ;)
