Company wont pay me money owed

I worked for a Care Company for a little over 3 mths..
I decided to leave as they were sending me to ridiculous places
not paying petrol or the time between calls even when i had
a large gap between.
I was owed about £50 in expenses and a few days work..
But since they have only paid me £3 and say that i owe them the
CRB check.. they saying i owe them that as i wasnt there 3 mths but i have
proof that i was as i have a signed contract by the Manager..

What can i do about them withholding money?

Thanks in Advance
DH

  • I would write them a letter referring to your contract and your start date. Then ask them to confirm in writing that they will not pay the money due to you and that they need to state the reason why.

Give them 7 days from the date of the letter to respond, state that they have this deadline in the letter.

Send it by recorded delivery or deliver it by hand and get a signature from reception.

I would be very surprised if they do not pay you what you are owed. If they don't then you have a few options including a claim in the small claims court.
  • Thank you, great idea x

  • hi, this is similar to another post on this board that i have just replied to also - "ex employer withholding pay". some good advice given on there too from what i could see as well as some links that you might find useful from user top_drawer.

Seek advice fro the CAB, apparently you have to give them 28 days or something like that.
I had a similar problem with a care company I worked for.
