Giving

I trade through and Limited company..and only pay corporation tax.

Is it possible to do my charitable giving through my company..and hence allow the charity to claim tax relief that way?

TIA

  • Your company can make charitable donations under Gift Aid but the procedure is slightly different to that where the donor is an individual.

Basically the company makes the donation gross so the charity cannot claim any tax back. The company can then treat this gross donation as a charge and can use it to reduce its profits (but not to create a loss).
