  • Unfortunately the guarantee is one year if I remember correctly. You can try complaining at the apple store but I think you won't get very far but you may be able to persuade them to get it replaced.

If that doesn't work: you can get a battery replacement which costs £30 or so and you get a new ipod - but it may be refurbished and I had quite a few problems until I got a properly working ipod and it still works!

    Hope that helps!
  • Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries
  • Did you register it? If you registered it when it was opened as a gift Apple will probably consider it to still be under guarantee - I've had this happen to me before. I've always thought the guarantee should run from when the item came into use anyway.

On this basis, have you actually tried taking it back to Argos? It might (don't hold your breath!) make a difference if you say it was bought as a Christmas gift and wasn't used until Christmas day.

You definitely should have some recompense unless it has been mistreated. Something like that should last longer than a year, although batteries are normally excluded from the guarantee if that is the problem.

I'd pop into your local Argos and see if they will send it off to be repaired.

  • I had a TV pack up after around 16 months from Argos with a 12 month guarantee.

I went in armed with my "Sale Of Goods speech" and the manager just said to swap it before I even got to say anything.

Chances are 12 months and 1 day they will swap it under "good faith". You can only go and ask them.

Then if they aren't cooperative then start quoting "Sale Of Goods 1979 etc etc" and I'm sure you will get somewhere then.
  • Thanks everyone, we went to the apple store who gave us a recon model with 3 mths warranty..... worried for no reason thx again
