Need help urgently??

Hey guys,
I really need your help with this one.
I have been stupid and haven’t paid bills on time and about an hour ago it all came to ahead when my mother received a phone call from a debt collectors.
There is more bad news, about three weeks ago I lost my office job and have no income presently. I have had lots of interviews at the moment but nothing solid yet.
The debts that I have listed below are really worrying me and my health is suffering through stress:
- Roxburgh debt company £423.00 (o2 phone bills unpaid)
- Bristow and Suitor £339.00 (unpaid council tax from old flat)
- British Gas £100.00 (from old flat)
- British Gas £60.00 (from old flat)
Now I know with a job and savings I might be able to pay these off but unfortunately I have neither at the moment.
I may have one last chance to pay off the above debts before further action is taken, I currently have £1157.00 bank charges from HSBC which I have been claiming for.
So I was wondering whether I could ask HSBC for help given the situation I am in and use the bank charges as leverage?
I look forward to your comments.
Many Thanks
Bromarc

Didn`t want to read & run, but I ain`t a lot of help.

I haven`t claimed charges, but hearing Martin on Radio 1 Tues(?) if your in financial hardship the banks have to deal with your claim even though the court case has put everything on hold.
Have you contacted the bank & explained the job loss & financial hardship that its left you in?Living debt free, since Sept 08 & Dec 10 :wall:

hi bromarc so sorry to hear of your situation hon.
The long and short of it is that no, borrowing from HSBC will leave you still in debt and other than relieving the pressure momentarily won't help.
Ok, your parents now know about the situation. what was their response to it? are they able to assist you in any way to get this sorted?
What do you have by the way of assets?
Look around you now at the things that you own, books, dvd's cd's everything.
can you list anything on ebay (you may need to be ruthless here)
Can you put your books/dvd's on amazon.
look at music magpie for your cd's. rip them onto your puter and then sell the discs. you will still have the music and have the money too.
Don't run away from this situation hon. contact all of the companies above first thing in the morning and tell them your current situation. offer them a token payment of £1 per week until you manage to get a job back.
Have you signed onto JSA? are you claiming what you are entitled to while you are off work? have a look at www.entitledto.com and it should show you what benefits you can receive. how did you loose your job if you don't mind me asking? it is only as if you were fired or left voluntarily that may disqualify you from some benefits.
Good luck and stick around here. we will offer all the help we can. xxdebt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -
I am looking to get a temp job, i just wanted to know if i can use the bank charge claims to pay off these debts i have mentioned........0

The bank charge claim isn't going to come right this second though so maybe look for other ways to quickly boost your income. Have you looked round to see what items you have lurking about that you no longer want or need? Might be a good time for a de-clutter and an income boost! Good luck xx0

Short answer is NO.
Unless you have the cash, no one is going to take an `IOU`.
Once you have the cash, then you can pay negotiate.Living debt free, since Sept 08 & Dec 10 :wall:

I would write to the companies, advising you are out of work and offer £5 per week to each if you can afford it. At the same time, contact HSBC and stress you are in financial hardship and to look at your case urgently. And yes, if you get the money from them, pay your debts off, it'll save time and hassle in the long run.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0

Hi - Earlier this year, my sister asked me to try and find advice for her on re-claiming bank charges.
I helped her to draft out letters (using the templates on this fantastic site) to her & her husbands bank (they have a joint account) which she sent to her Bank.
To cut a long story short, she eventually received a letter from them, advising that everything was "on hold" because of a Court Case awaiting judgement. Now, several months at least, later, she has still not heard anything further from the Bank concerned.
The total charges they were trying to reclaim, if I remember rightly, is approx. £2500.
What is the current position please on reclaiming charges? (I have read a few recent posts, but am still not sure as to what my sisters next move should be). Should she now phone the Bank about this, or send them another letter requesting their money back?
Any advice gratefully accepted...0 -

hi problems, as the letter stated, all the cases are on hold while they are in court although some cases are being classed as hardship cases and those ones are going through the process.0
