Anyone have ideas where my kids can sell their daily laid free range eggs in the Cullybackey/Ballymena area. They are only selling them £1 for 6 for their pocket money.....
Any takers?? Any ideas??:j
Thanks....

your username suggests to me that you are close to the Hillstown farm shop (please correct me if I'm wrong!!) have you tried asking there if they would be willing to sell them for you? Or how about asking in local shops such as grocers etc? I know the newsagents local to me sells free range duck and hen eggs, might be worth a try0 -
you could ask Jenny Bristow, she live just outside Cullybackey and the kids might get on TV if your lucky.0

Ballybollen in Cullybackey try the butchers beside the fruit shop, its normally got loads of local produce, or how about getting them to make a poster, go into montgomery's or moby's they normally have loads of posters, montgomerys would def be a good one!:j Norn Iron Club Member No. 343 :j0

I think *technically* the law states that small scale producers with under 50 birds can only sell them direct to the end user. i.e. you can't sell them to a shop who then sells them on. That said, my local vivo sells free range "blank box" eggs from someone local and i'm sure the official paperwork's not in place. We have laying ducks but there's never really any spare to sell so i never properly investigated it but i seem to remember reading something about it in country smallholding over the summer. that said, the law might be different over here from mainland uk.
I would try asking in local grocery shops and butchers, or what about selling them in school? Although i'm sure if the kids that buy them can be relied on to take them home in their schoolbags intact... Could you or someone you know bring the boxes into your workplace? In summer I sell strawberries in work and also potatoes and other bits and pieces and i'm sure if my damn ducks would lay enough i'd get the eggs shifted no probs too!0
