Will the new 15% VAT rate apply?

I have two upcoming events to ask a question about.

I have booked the departmental Christmas dinner at a pub and put a deposit down. Will the preset prices get adjusted to reflect the new 15% rate when we have our dinner?

I have also booked a cruise for next year and paid the 10% deposit. The final payment is in a few months. Will I get a rebate due to the drop in VAT?

Only if the businesses you booked with decide to pass the savings on. Your best bet is to ring them.

bear in mind that the saving would only be £1.85 in every £100.

Likewise - I have booked an event and the venue has asked for, and had, full payement. Could I now expect a VAT refund here. We actually go on 19th Dec.
Since it's over £500 it would be the equivalent of another bottle of wine (at their prices...I could buy 4...)
I have e-mailed them to ask but I wonder if anyone knows the law here? Not least because they will be making a saving on what they buy in for us now, anyway...

By the way Lifeisbut I know it's not a lot of money but better in my pocket...

Because the service provided is not until after the changeover date, I believe it's the supplier's decision as to whether they want to charge the lower rate or not. But it's not mandatory to do so.
